The New York Times Guide to New York City says the Upper East Side is synonimous with old money, it is the land of bluebloods and blue-haired ladies. Close to the central park there are the most expensive apartments in the world. We watched a young black man there pushing an old man in a wheelchair whose one leg was stretched out, covered with a white cozy blanket. It must be hard work to push such a long and heavy carriage through these uneven streets. The young man just asked the old one which side of the street he would prefer, the sunny or he shady one when we walked by. He was wearing a big long beautiful necklace in a sort of greenish color. You had to look twice to realize that every single link of the chain was made of folded one dollar bills. From the backside his t-shirt was full of holes.
